Video overlay device

BlackfinBF548This device is intended for use in digital video recording systems for race cars and airplanes. A Blackfin ADSP-BF548 processor by Analog Devices was chosen as the core for the system. 

How it works:

A video signal source is connected to the ADV7183 video decoder. The system accepts SD PAL and NTSC (Composite, S-Video). Digital video in ITU-R BT.656 format is sent to the PPI processor input and then sent to the Pixel Compositor input.

The control program collects data from the sensors connected to the remote input and output ports of the system and creates data sets for display. This data includes speed, height, coordinates, and engine operation and acceleration parameters. It is stored as graphical charts in the memory and is transmitted to the second input of the Pixel Compositor line by line.

The output video data is transmitted to the ADV7171 digital video encoder where it is converted into an analog video signal.

Besides video, the device supports a wide range of interfaces including Ethernet, serial ports and memory card slots.
